Sensor-integrated Urometer

Team : Professor Hongnian Yu, Arif Reza Anwary, Mr Daniel Craven, Mr Muhammad Akbar, and Mr Pengcheng Liu

Three prototypes (contact sensor, flow sensor and drip sensor) are developed to monitor continuous urine output from catheter. Long-range Bluetooth communication protocol is used to capture sensor information. Analysis are performed to calculate mL/h and display in inputoutput chart. Sensor-integrated Urometer is developed for Royal Bournemouth Hospital under Higher Education Innovation Funding (HEIF), United Kingdom, 2016

I am interested to investigate the following

  • Develop non-invasive device to monitor fluid amount
  • Identify patterns and trends of patients who are not achieving the desired level of urine output in the required timescale
  • Early indication of acute kidney patients
